  • Week 5

helloo 👋 Time for another development update! In terms of art, we have this nice Yucca plant Also been working on sliding and it's basically done now but we will need to experiment with how far and fast you go. I've also discovered that you can use the grappling poitns as jumping pads, so i did a bit of experimentation. We're also experimenting with the death VFX We have also made a bio page and started posting some interesting content across our socials https://hopp.bio/redratgames https://x.com/RedRatStudio/status/1803451621642293519 A lot of research has been done on marketing, by watching videos with Chris Zukowski covering many interesting subjects and him giving lots of tips on making a steam page. We also bought his course as he was doing a summer sale. This week, we will focus on making a level so we can start testing the gameplay loop to confirm if it is as fun as we think it is. We need to put all the assets the artists made into the game and we should hopefully have a good little trailer!

  • God's Spear - Week 4

What Happened This week we had a bit of a social media overhaul where we made an upload schedule, redesigned the website, created a newsletter, and added blogs. Some of us also went to a graduate showcase at our uni where we spoke to some other developers who might be willing to help develop God's Spear. Development These are the assets in development/have been developed up to this point. This is a video of the character movement that's been developed. it's a raw implementation and it will need a lot of work to get right. This is a video of dashing on the floor. I think it looks and feels good for now. also tried to experiment with sliding but that's still WIP at the moment as you can tell. Next Week We plan to look into Clickup to see if it's going to serve us better than Atlassian. Also want to refocus on development and get the character movement to a good point so we can get level designers in and also start designing enemies. The artists will continue to prototype the environment art and other assets to do with the character.
